Overview

Improve grid reliability by reducing the time to locate fault conditions tracked by measures such as SAIDI, SAIFI, etc.
IKI-OH

TE Connectivity is proud to bring IKI-OH, an overhead fault current indicator we can bring to you through our brand Kries. These devices can be used for up to 36 kV overhead distribution lines, and from #4 - 1000 kcmil cable sizes.

IKI-OH is tested for IEEE-495 standards, and meeting these requirements over operating temperatures from -30C to 75C (-22F to 167F).

IKI-OH was designed to enable installation without de-energizing the circuit to be monitored. With no special tools besides what is typically found on a bucket truck, IKI-OH can be quickly and easily installed. Kries' IKI-OH allows for detecting many different types of fault conditions, helping grid operators to quickly return power delivery to customers effected by an unplanned outage. Even low-current / high-impedance fault conditions can now be detected by IKI-OH-R2.5. Conditions like vegetation strikes, or downed condutors, can be detected potentially preventing wildfires and unsafe conditions. Using the remote reporting IKI-OH-R2.5, real time conditions detected on the grid can be reported back to a centralized distribution control center giving better awareness and reducing SAIDI impacts of unplanned fault conditions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Can IKI-OH be installed without special tools?

Answer: Yes, IKI-OH can be installed with tools already present in a typical bucket truck.

Question: Is IKI-OH able to report fault status to an integrating SCADA system?
Answer: Yes, IKI-OH-R2.5 can communicate fault status over the cell network (4G).

Question:  Is there an indication of status on IKI-OH itself?
Answer: Yes, IKI-OH displays a setected fault condition by flashing lights (LED's).

Question:  What is the voltage range for IKI-OH?
Answer: IKI-OH can serve overhead distribution circuits between 1 - 36 kV.

Question:  Does IKI-OH require any maintenance?
Answer: No, over the lifetime of the battery IKI-OH requires no maintenance.
